COVID-19 Update

Due to concerns surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other health authorities, CTYFL is implementing some new, mandatory health and safety procedures as part of a proactive approach to preventing the spread of germs during the 2020 Spring Season.

Throughout CTYFL, we are adopting these new measures indefinitely, and will continue to evaluate health concerns. We cannot stress enough how vital it is that all participants (players, coaches ,and volunteers) adhere to these guidelines.

“No-Handshake” Policy

CTYFL is immediately setting in motion a precautionary “no-handshake policy” to be observed by every participant of the organization until further notice. This includes all customary game-related activities, such as pre-game coaches’ handshakes, coin-toss handshakes, and post-game handshakes between members of opposing teams. We would recommend staff, players and coaches use verbal queues, such as saying “good game,” instead of other physical contact.

As a reminder the spring season is a non-contact season as it pertains to game play.  Game Officials will be enforcing the contact rules that are in place as part of the CTYFL Rules of Play

Maintain Good Hygiene Practices

All volunteers, participants, and family at CTYFL games, practices and other events should be aware of the coronavirus risk and take the necessary precautions to avoid exposure to germs. This includes maintaining good hygiene practices. We strongly recommend the following:

Wash your hands often, using soap and water for at least 20 seconds each time

If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol; this is suggested after any physical contact with another person or with a shared surface.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands

Cover your mouth and nose – with a tissue, if possible – when coughing or sneezing, then properly discard the tissue in the trash

Avoid close contact with anyone else who is coughing or sneezing or who is otherwise sick

Clean or disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces (including footballs, flags, etc)

Use of Others Equipment Prohibited

The use of others football equipment is prohibited. Parents are encouraged to bring hand sanitizer for practices and games. Please use before dispersing any team snacks. DO NOT share soft shell helmets, mouthpieces, water bottles, etc.  Team water bottles are prohibited and each participant will need to provide their own water bottle during all practices and games.
